Description
On August 23rd, 2011, the Washington DC area was hit with a magnitude 5.8 earthquake, needless to say, we aren't used to earthquakes in Washington DC! Most offices and companies sent people home afterwards, wanting to make sure the structure of the office buildings were ok for employees to return to work.
One of the buildings damaged in the earthquake was the Washington National Cathedral. Three of the spires broke off the towers of the cathedral. The large flying buttresses at the back of the cathedral were damaged too with cracks in them. Workers put up scaffolding in the coming weeks to work on repairing the damage.
